Warranties and materials

Understand your roofing warranty before you sign.

A roofing warranty is only as strong as the installation behind it. Most manufacturer warranties require the roofing system to be installed according to their specific guidelines. If it is not, the warranty can be voided entirely, and most homeowners never find out until they file a claim.

Ascender Roofing Solutions installs every system to manufacturer specifications. We register your warranty with the manufacturer after installation and provide you with complete documentation. This page explains the two types of warranty protection you receive and what each one covers.

Two layers of protection

Manufacturer material warranty

Covers defects in the roofing materials themselves. If a shingle delaminates or a membrane fails prematurely within the warranty period, the manufacturer provides replacement materials.

Covers material defects and premature failure
Duration varies by product (20 years to lifetime)
Requires installation per manufacturer specs
Registration required after installation (we handle this)
Does not cover damage from storms, impacts, or neglect

Ascender workmanship guarantee

Applies to new roof installations. Covers the quality of our installation work. If a leak develops because of how we installed the materials (improper flashing, inadequate sealing, incorrect underlayment application), we come back and fix it at no cost.

Covers installation errors and workmanship defects
Includes flashing, sealing, underlayment, and detailing
We return and repair at no additional cost
Backed by our business, not a third party
Does not cover damage from external events or normal wear
Repair work: any guarantee is stated in writing on your quote

Warranty coverage by material

These are general ranges. Specific warranty terms depend on the exact product selected. We walk you through the warranty details for your chosen material before you commit.

Architectural asphalt shingles

Leading manufacturers (GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed)

Material warranty

25 to 50 years (limited lifetime on premium lines)

Wind rating

Up to 130 mph on premium products

Warranty terms depend on the specific product line selected. We help you choose the right product and ensure installation meets manufacturer specifications for full warranty eligibility.

Three-tab asphalt shingles

Major manufacturers

Material warranty

20 to 25 years

Wind rating

Up to 60 to 70 mph

A cost-effective option for simpler roof profiles. Shorter warranty and wind rating than architectural shingles.

Modified bitumen

Specialty flat roof manufacturers

Material warranty

10 to 20 years

Wind rating

Varies by system

Multi-layer torch-applied systems. Warranty coverage depends on the number of plies and whether the system is installed per manufacturer specifications.

What can void your roofing warranty

Most homeowners do not realize how easily a roofing warranty can be voided. Understanding these common issues helps you protect your investment.

Improper installation

If materials are not installed per manufacturer specs, the warranty is void. This is the most common reason claims are denied.

Unauthorized modifications

Mounting satellite dishes, solar panels, or other equipment without proper flashing and sealing can void coverage.

Inadequate ventilation

Many shingle warranties require specific attic ventilation ratios. Insufficient ventilation can cause premature material failure and void the warranty.

Pressure washing

High-pressure cleaning can damage shingle granules and void the manufacturer warranty. We use low-pressure methods only.

Failure to maintain

Some warranties require regular maintenance (clearing debris, cleaning gutters). Neglect can be grounds for denial.
